You need a passport photo, identification and money. The Vézère is a relatively calm river with dark water (its nickname is the red river) with overgrown and open marshy riverbanks available for predatory fishing. Getting ther is a bit challenging as the riverbanks are quite steep. There are good fishing areas around Montignac, especially in the public domain downstream in the area of Lascaux.
